Mysteries & Myths: The art of storytelling and imagination
Delve into the symbolic, the strange, and the fantastical. This theme invites artists to explore legends, folklore, personal mythologies, or mysterious imagery — capturing the wonder, and sometimes the eeriness, of human imagination.

Harvest of Color: A celebration of abundance and expression
​Inspired by the richness of the season, this theme puts color center stage — bold or subtle, harmonious or chaotic. It's a joyful opportunity to celebrate the "harvest" of creativity and growth through vibrant visual storytelling.

Member artists are welcome to submit work for either theme, or both. We can't wait to see where your imagination takes you this October.

​​Call for Volunteer Artists:
My Life, My Story, My Art
The VA Boston Healthcare System is launching My Life, My Story, My Art, a new initiative pairing local artists with Veterans to transform their lived experiences and personal narratives into custom works of art. Trescott Street Gallery is proud to partner with the VA Boston Healthcare System to help bring this meaningful project to life.

They're seeking volunteer artists of all backgrounds, styles, and mediums. Volunteers will be paired with a Veteran, listen to their story, and create a portrait or conceptual piece inspired by it. The finished artwork — and all rights to it — will be gifted to the Veteran at no cost.

This is a chance to honor a Veteran's life, build connections between the community and those who served, and grow your artistic portfolio through deeply meaningful work.

Gratitude & Grace
Theme: Reflection, peace, and appreciation.
Concept: This exhibit invites artists to express gratitude, serenity, and reflection. Whether through scenes of tranquility, personal moments, or abstract emotion, the goal is to convey beauty in simplicity and grace in expression.

December
Season of Giving: Small Works
Theme: Open / Non-theme Showcase.
Concept: This exhibit is designed as an open, no-theme showcase encouraging a wide range of artwork that may appeal to holiday visitors, collectors, and gift buyers while still reflecting each artist’s unique voice. Members may submit up to five total works, with no more than two larger pieces. Artists are strongly encouraged to include smaller works (maximum size: 12 × 12 inches) to create an accessible, gift-friendly exhibition atmosphere. All mediums are welcome.

Light & Shadow: The Art of Contrast
Theme: Exploring duality and depth.
Concept: Start the year with a theme that celebrates balance — brightness and darkness, joy and melancholy, the seen and unseen. Artists are encouraged to interpret “contrast” in literal or symbolic ways, through light and tone, or through deeper explorations of opposing ideas and emotions.

Expressions of Love
Theme: Broad interpretations of love and connection.
Concept: This inclusive theme invites artists to reflect on love in all its forms — romantic, familial, platonic, cultural, or self-love. It’s an opportunity to express compassion, empathy, and emotional connection through any medium or style.

March
Artist’s Choice
Theme: Open theme. Artist-directed subject and style.
Concept: This open exhibit invites artists to share work that best represents their current creative voice, interests, or direction. With no specific thematic boundaries, artists are encouraged to submit pieces that feel meaningful, experimental, or personally significant. All mediums are welcome, creating a dynamic showcase of the diverse perspectives and artistic approaches within the gallery community.

April
TSG Youth Exhibit: The World Through My Eyes
Theme: Personal perspective, observation, and creative voice.
Concept: Youth artists are invited to share how they see and experience the world through their own eyes. All mediums are welcome, with works encouraged to reflect personal stories, imagination, environment, identity, and the moments that shape how young artists understand and express their world.

Between Dreams and Reality
Theme: The blurred line between what is and what could be.
Concept: Artists are invited to explore the surreal — the intersection of imagination and truth. From dreamlike imagery to symbolic storytelling, this theme encourages works that challenge perception and transport the viewer beyond the ordinary.

June
Shared Lines
Theme: Art, influence, and creative connection.
Concept: This exhibit celebrates the relationships and influences that shape creativity.

• Member participation: Artists may submit up to five pieces. Members may submit individually — there is no requirement to invite anyone else.
• Invited non-member participation: Members may invite a family member, loved one, or creative peer to submit work alongside them. Non-members cannot submit independently; this is an invitation-only option. Non-member guests may submit up to two pieces, which will be displayed with the member’s work.
• Artists submitting individually or with invited collaborators are encouraged to explore mentorship, heritage, collaboration, or the personal connections that inform their work.
• Optional Artist Statement: Artists are encouraged (but not required) to submit a brief written statement to accompany their work. This can reflect on the art, the influences behind it, or the creative connection shared with a collaborator. Statements will be displayed alongside the artwork.

All visual art mediums are welcome.

Theme: Layers, depth, and discovery.
Concept: This exhibit invites artists to create work that plays with layers, surprises, or hidden details. You can explore physical layers, different materials, overlapping ideas, or visual illusions. The goal is to share work that encourages viewers to look closely and discover something new. All mediums are welcome.

Beloved Community
Theme: Belonging, connection, kinship.
Concept:  Explore what it means to belong — to a neighbor, a neighborhood, a family, a city. Artists are welcome to interpret this through portraiture, place, memory, ritual, healing, or simply the bonds that hold people together. The theme is intentionally open: any work that speaks to connection, community, or shared humanity fits.
